There are a number of health supplements that claim to boost your health conditions and eliminate problems almost in a jiffy. While we all hope that such claims are right, but sadly it does not appear to be the case. In fact, most of these health supplements are making tall claims that are far from the truth, and the worst part is that, they are aware of this. The US government, Federal agencies and FDA have woken to this reality and are now tightening the laws with stricter regulations to clamp down on these businesses.

Lawmakers are beginning to impose tighter regulations on the health and dietary supplement market to prevent the companies from making false claims about the achievements and safety or efficacy of a product.

Researchers also doubt the effectiveness of these health supplements. Daily doses of vitamins C and E that administered to 10,000 plus patients with a high vascular disease risk over 5 years did nothing to reduce the threat of death or illness. In another study, 20,536 patients between 40 to 80 years of age were administered cholesterol lowering drugs. Half of those who were taking these drugs also took vitamin supplements. The other half took just dummy vitamin tablets. Again, half of those who were taking the dummy cholesterol lowering drugs were taking vitamins, the other half dummy vitamins.

There was no significant difference. That is why experts say that eating fruit and vegetables everyday would probably give better results than health supplements. And there are some supplements that actually cause more harm than good. But the truth is that, there is no risk with fruit and vegetables.

But sadly, the sale of health supplements continues to rise rapidly as more and more people wish to lead a healthier lifestyle. But they do not realize that the fresh green produce - nature's gift to mankind is more than enough. They fall prey to the jazzy info-commercials on TV and the tall claims, which are mostly not true.
