And over the last 2 decades, hundreds of health and beauty aids have come out to satisfy this great hunger. While most of these products almost always fail to provide what they claim, but you are still sure to come across a few that indeed are good. There are also organizations both business and non-business that are committed to health and beauty. Like the American Health and Beauty Aids Institute or AHBAI. This institute was founded in 1981 to represent the thriving ethnic health and beauty care industry. Though just 10 member companies initially formed it, but today it has 17 member companies and also has more than 100 associate members in a variety of fields.

The institute organizes many programs like the AHBAI Proud Lady Beauty Show. Held at Chicago, it is the largest Midwest trade show that is dedicated to the needs of Black cosmetologists, barbers and nail technicians. The show attracts 12,000 plus professionals from across the nation.

The AHBAI Salon Advantage Club focuses on salon professionals and strengthens the link between professionals and product manufacturers. Those who are members receive information on the latest beauty trends. Members also receive discounts on classes and also admission to the Proud Lady Beauty Show.
